Come to Balance

Written by Doug Goodman. February 21, 2010.

Sometimes I'm convinced that I give more than I get
but who's keeping score, is the score even kept
Love-15 or 15-love in the 5th and final set
Still in the game of love, the match ain't over yet

The falling part seems easy, it happens easily
But, oh, how do you find the one to share it equally
It's what makes love illusive, a little slippery
On the edge of the highest cliff, where fallin is easy, fallin is easy

It isn't I'm not able to sacrifice
(I've) already given more than one life
It isn't that I don't want to compromise
(I've) gone past the middle more than once or twice

Love can be illusive, a little slippery
Yeah, love has been illusive, seems to avoid me, seems to avoid me

Maybe it's my destiny to be a giver, not a taker
Maybe a choice was made, by me? By me or my maker?
That set the path I've traveled down, traveled down alone
Missing a beloved, a love I've never known

A balanced life is the way to live
(I'm) not lookin for more than I give
May the scales come to balance, by a love to be revealed
Come to balance by a love to be revealed

This isn't a lament or a plead for sympathy
Cuz I've had more than my share of love from friends and family
"Well then," you might say, "what more do you expect?
And as you've said you're still in the game, your life ain't over yet"

A balanced life is the way to live
(I'm) not lookin for more than I give
May the scales come to balance, by a love to be revealed
By a love to be revealed, by a love to be revealed
