Control

Written by Doug Goodman. April 14, 1996.

It all comes down to control, who's at the top of the totem pole
At home or on the job, in church, yes even the mob
It all comes down to control
Signs of violence, just evidence of contrasts, conflicts, control

We all have our own devices, hoping to gain control
Some are aggressive, some passive, hoping to gain control
When we get it, we try to exploit it, suffocate, dominate,
Control, control

According to most reporters, it's the primary cause of marital disorders...
Domestic violence, it's just more evidence...of control

We all have our own vices, that vie for control
When they get us, they try to destroy us, subjugate, dominate,
Control, control

From the beginning, right on through to the end
Forces causing you to break or bend
Rarely principles or virtues at stake
Devastation left in the wake
No matter, whether outward or down in your soul
It all comes down to...down to control

It all comes down to control, who's at the top of the totem pole
Who will decide on the borders, who will issue the orders
Wars and violence, they make no sense, infiltrate, escalate
Control, control

From the beginning, right on through to the end
Forces causing you to break or bend
Rarely principles or virtues at stake
Devastation left in the wake
No matter, whether outward or down in your soul
It all comes down to...it all comes down to
It all comes down to...down to control
