Only a Glimmer

Written by Doug Goodman. July 1, 2008.

I couldn't sleep at all last night
Could've been I ate too late
Should've known better than to eat red meat
Should've known there was MSG on my plate

That's robbing me of my chance to dream
Of just what this world can be

I couldn't sleep at all last night
Could've been the evening news
The business of news is to build up our fears
And leave us without any clues

Of how we're suppose to dream that dream
Of just what this world can be

I couldn't sleep at all last night.

I couldn't sleep at all last night
Something more pressing than sleep
It wasn't matters of love, ya see
But something more pressing and deep

The strongest desire to dream the "DREAM"1
Or "IMAGINE"2 the world that can be

But just like the Martin's1 and John's2 of this world
It's only a glimmer I see.

I couldn't sleep at all last night.

Yeah, just like the Martin's1 and John's2 of this world
There's only a glimmer we see.......
But better a glimmer than no hope at all
A glimmer of what we can be

Dreaming of what we can be, Dreaming of what we can be
Dreaming of what we can be, Imagine what we can be.......
